Describe your business.
Taken to the Cleaners is a residential dry cleaning pick-up service that caters to busy professionals. Our system is designed so that customers need not be home for pick-up or delivery.

How long have you been running your business?

I recently started this business after being in this industry for over 10 years.


Why did you get into your business to begin with?
I realized that there is only so much time in the day, and that I could provide a high quality service that would allow my customers to use their time for other things. No one wants to make an extra trip after work or stand in line and wait. Convenience is a prized commodity in our culture, and nothing is more convenient then having someone come to your home to do something for you.


What do you like most about your career? Goals?
What I like most is that I meet many people in Lincoln. My wife may get tired of it, but whenever one of my customers makes the news, I say “Hey, that’s one of my customers”. As I set goals, I have to ask myself “how many people do I need to help in order for me to reach my goals?”

What is the biggest challenge of owning your own business?
My biggest challenge is making sure my customers are completely satisfied with the level of service and quality I provide.

What services does your company offer that residents in your neighborhood might be interested in?
Well, to start with we provide NEXT DAY delivery. So if we pick up in a neighborhood on Monday, it will be delivered back Tuesday the next day.

We automatically drive past our customers’ residences on the scheduled pick-up day so they don’t have to call. If they have an order, they put it out and we clean it and then deliver it back the next day.

We have paperless billing which is good for the environment and keeps costs down. There is an automated calling program that reminds customers that we will be in their neighborhood the next day, and we have a system called EasyPay that automatically pays their bill on the date they choose.


Is there anything else relevant to your business’ article that was not covered in the questions?
I can be reached from 7:30-7:30 Monday through Thursday and 7:30-4:30 on Friday at 802-2061. I am a member of LIBA, BNI and The Lincoln Chamber of Commerce.

Tell us about your family.
My wife Lisa works at Unico Group and my children Jordan (15) and Lauren (11) attend Parkview Christian School. We are directors of pre-K Sunday school at Lincoln Berean, and Lisa also teaches aerobics at 5:00 am (way to early for me). We have lived in Taylor Meadows (my Wednesday route) for three years.

What motivates you?

Being in control of my time. Working set hours has never been interesting. With a business such as this, there are many opportunities to do things with my family and friends that just wouldn’t be available if I worked set hours.


What are your hobbies and what do you enjoy the most about Lincoln?
I really enjoy racquetball, and movies. A big hobby of mine is miniature gaming, it’s like playing with those little green army men we had as kids except with rules. I am a partner at Gauntlet Games at 13th and Arapaho where we play such games.
The thing I like most about Lincoln is that if you provide a good service, word of mouth can really help you grow.
